*....or so the story goes. Once upon a time, Ryan suggested to Melissa that they start a 'blog'. To which Melissa said, "We are not blog people!" And so here we are. We are teaching ourselves photography, taking the camera everywhere with us. This little blog is meant to show off shots we are proud of, and to give you a glimpse into our adventures. Comments always welcome!

Christmas Eve
«« prev | next »»
Well we haven't shot anything new lately. Been busy with Christmas. Here is a shot from last Christmas out in Quebec.
-shot by Ryan
Ok I am being yelled at by family members. I should be partying and not posting.
-But-
Here is a shot of a family Christmas Eve tradition I am going to try and pick up on. Fish & Chips on Christmas Eve. Catholics out there, ya know what I am talkin' about.

Calvacade of Lights
«« prev | next »»
Jeff, Pam and myself (Ryan), were down to City Hall to see the "Calvacade of Lights" and tree lighting ceremony. It turned out to be kinda lame with musical performances that would lull you to sleep. But with a little "boozey coffee" we managed to pull through the night.

Wasn't too sure to go colour or black & white for this one. What do you think?
Black & white version here.

Abandoned Resort
«« prev | next »»
Another shot from the 4-wheelin' tour we did on the honeymoon. More photos here
Here is the back story:
The Sandy Village Beach Resort opened in 2000 or so. It was one of the first resorts in the Punta Cana area. Unfortunately the beach was lousy. Small and full of sharp coral. Word began to spread about how bad it was. People with reservations started cancelling. People stopped coming altogether. The bank foreclosed on the resort. The owner skipped town. The staff, (unpaid in 2 months), got wind of this. They showed up to work like any other day, but then proceeded to loot the place. They took everything they could. Once people in the 2 nearby villages saw people walking up the streets with toilets, sinks, mattresses etc, you can only imagine what happened next. Every thing was ransacked. What was left, got destroyed by Hurricane Ivan. Now it sits abandoned. It was going to become a paintball spot, but rumor now is that the bank will someday try and reopen it.

Northern Wish
Neil sitting in again while the happy couple is away. This was shot on our way home from Manitoulin Island this summer. Shot from the A.Y. Jackson lookout near Sudbury. In 1953, A.Y. Jackson, founding member of the Group of Seven, painted "Spring on the Onaping River" from this vantage point. Beautiful spot and a cool Canadian moment.

A huge thanks to: Her Craftiness -Veronica, Best Man & Floral Arranger -Neil, and Tracy for commuting 2 hrs for 2 hrs of work. If you have us on Facebook, check out more photos there. Or, go here for more photos.

Ol' Tyme Photos
«« prev | next »»
We haven't been out shooting lately. We are in the final crunch before the wedding. The only photoshop work we have been doing is restoring wedding photos for us to display. The set will be black & white, but this photo had a natural sepia to it that punched out nicely with some contrast. Thought we would share a bit with you. These are Melissa's grandparents on her Mom's side; Joffre Bruno and Jeanne D'arc.
