*....or so the story goes. Once upon a time, Ryan suggested to Melissa that they start a 'blog'. To which Melissa said, "We are not blog people!" And so here we are. We are teaching ourselves photography, taking the camera everywhere with us. This little blog is meant to show off shots we are proud of, and to give you a glimpse into our adventures. Comments always welcome!

French Cannonball

«« prev next »»

Cannonball

At the corner of rue Saint-Louis and du Corps de Garde, in Quebec City, a tree had grown around this cannonball.
-shot by Melissa (the photo...not the cannonball. We don't know who shot it originally)
Update: From Frommers: Lodged at the base of the trunk, one story says that the cannonball landed here during the War of 1759 and over the years became firmly embraced by the tree. Another story says that it was placed here on purpose to keep the wheels of horse-drawn carriages from bumping the tree when making tight turns.
